We view our Field Staff as critically important members of our team. The Site Supervisor ‘owns’ your job, and will be the key to the completion of your project, both on time, and on budget. At E&M, we have worked hard to find and retain the very best site supervisors. They share our passion for excellence and operate with our values of ‘honesty and integrity’. Moreover, they are all dedicated to implement E&M’s stringent safety policies on their projects. We are proud to share here some of their many accomplishments.

Head Office Team

Mark D. Emmons

President

Mark joined E&M in 1984 and has worked in the field for eight years on a variety of projects in and around the Kingston area. Mark became President of the company at the end of 2016. Mark was the past Chairman of the Labour Management Health & Safety Committee in Kingston and served on the Board of Directors of the Construction Safety Association of Ontario. Mark became President of the Kingston Construction Associate (2009). Mark offers over 34 years of knowledge and expertise, and is an important asset at E&M.

Brent Mitchell

Vice-President

Brent has been with E&M since 1997, working in the field on a number projects. Eventually, he moved into the office in 2008 and using his 11 years of experience in the field, he started out as being a junior estimator understanding the value of estimating a job with precision. At the end of 2016, Brent became the Vice-President of E&M.

Donny Emmons

Project Manager/
Estimator

Donny Emmons worked in the field on his summer breaks from high school and college gaining field experience. He recently graduated from St. Lawrence College from the Civil Engineering program and is now working in the office in estimating and project management.

Robert J. Vinkle

Project Manager/ Estimator

Robert (Bob) Vinkle joined E&M directly from high school in 1973. While at E&M, Bob worked on obtaining his Journeyman license in carpentry at Algonquin College (1977). In 1978, Bob moved up to the position of Estimator, and became a principle in the company in 1982. In 1995, Bob received a Gold Seal Certificate in estimating by the O.G.C.A. Bob offers over 45 years of experience and as the Chief Estimator, he is directly involved with all proposals and budgetary work as well as project management.

Debbie Mack

Payroll & Head Reception

Debbie Mack joined E&M in 2006. Debbie’s outstanding work ethic allows her to handle many important tasks including payroll, accounts payable, reception and communication, sub-contracting agreements, fleet vehicle management and close out documentation for all projects. Debbie also works with our estimators to prepare proposals and quotations for tender closings.

Kim Keller

Head Bookkeeper

Kim has been with E&M for one year now. She went to St. Lawrence to get her Business Administration/Finance Diploma and brings over 15 years of payroll and accounting experience to the firm. Kim has worked payroll/accounting administration for companies such as Bosal Canada INC., and Empire Life, and has demonstrated a strong ability to plan and schedule work activities considering priorities, workload and timelines.

Luke Emmons

Site Superintendent

Luke joined Emmons & Mitchell Construction in 2010 as a general carpenter and transitioned to on-site foreman in 2012. Luke has proven himself to be a results-driven on-site foreman who takes pride in his work, and who understands the importance of customer service, safety and quality work. Luke has been the on-site foreman for a variety of school projects for Queen’s University, Royal Military College of Canada, City of Kingston, Limestone District School Board, and Hotel Dieu Hospital.

Tom MacFarlane

Site Superintendent

Tom MacFarlane has been with E&M since 1994, joining as a carpenter’s apprentice and building his skills to becoming both a knowledgeable carpenter, and a very dedicated superintendent. Tom is a site expert in project renovations. Some of his projects include Queen’s Ban Righ and Adelaide Door Replacement, École Catholique Cathedral Renovations, Queen’s Residence Doors, and Queen’s Kingston & Grant Hall Fire Order Repairs.

Mike Szczesniak

Site Superintendent

Mike joined E&M in 2004. Mike is a fully licensed carpenter and has quickly established himself as a superintendent at E&M through his close supervision of project renovations. Mike’s many accomplishments include Hotel Dieu Hospital (Johnson Street Ramp, Urgent Care Renovations, HDH/Queen’s High Speed Skeletal Imaging Lab), Downtown Animal Hospital, and the Electrophysiology Lab at KGH.

David Andersen

Site Superintendent

Dave has worked with E&M for 5 years and is a fully licensed carpenter. Dave has worked in the industry for over 25 years and has acted as a site supervisor for E&M on projects like Bellevue House HVAC Retrofit, LDSB Accessibility Renovations to Marysville, Central and Enterprise P.S., HDH Johnson 4 Soiled Room Renovation, and KGH Douglas Wing Scoping Suite HVAC Replacement.

Sheldon Vankoughnett

Site Superintendent

Sheldon has been with E&M since 2003. He is a fully licensed carpenter and is also a well experienced site superintendent. Sheldon has overseen several of E&M’s projects throughout the years. Some of his projects include John Deutsch University Centre Window Restorations, Queen’s Ellis Hall Lab Renovations, Saint Mary’s of the Lake Envelope Retrofit, and Queen’s Smith Hall School of Business. He was also a lead carpenter and site coordinator at Memorial Park Pool, Kingston.

Matt Dowling

Site Superintendent

Matt has been with E&M since 2016. He is currently stationed at Dupont currently undertaking various projects. Some of the projects that he has worked on at Dupont include the Dupont Conference Room 130, Dupont Lobby Renovation, Dupont Basement Washroom Accessibility Refit, and Dupont Lab 210 Upgrade. Matt has also worked on other projects outside of Dupont such as PWGSC – Joyceville Institution Dry Pipe Sprinkler Bldgs. PP43 & PP51, the LDSB Gould Lake Outdoor Centre, and LDSB Sydenham High School Barrier Free Washroom Renovations.

Ron Peters

Project Manager

Ron joined E&M back in 2015 as a Site Project Manager working on the new expansion to the Military Museum at CFB Kingston. This project was a design build project. Ron has worked in the industry for over 35 years running his own structural steel business where he was also a chief estimator and a head draftsman. Ron brings a wealth of knowledge and is a great fit for the E&M team.

Matt Waitson

Project Manager

Matt joined E&M back in 2016. Matt went to Algonquin College for a 2-year diploma in Heritage Carpentry and Millwork, then went on to attend a 3-phase apprenticeship at St. Lawrence College and obtained his Red Seal in carpentry. Some of the projects that Matt has overseen are the L.D.S.B. North Addington Septic System Upgrades, L.D.S.B. NDSS Paint Booth, and the FF09 Upgrade Lift Station.

Andy Guthro

Project Manager

Andy has been with E&M for quite some time and has been involved in many projects. Some examples of projects that Andy has worked on are the Bayridge Bible Chapel, Rolade Reality & Residential Complex Upgrades, and the Cataraqui Dental Clinic.

Paul Fischkohl

Paul has been with E&M since May of 2007. Paul is a valuable member at E&M and has been involved in several projects such as VB01, the Military Communications and Electronics Museum, Empire Life, and the Memorial Pool and Water Park.

Dan Mosher

Dan has been with E&M for three years. Dan has contributed to a variety of projects during his time here. Dan has been heavily involved with projects from Dupont and Queen’s, but he has also contributed to projects such as the MacDonald Cartier Building, and Hotel Dieu Hospital Safety Upgrades Firestop.

Jake Pretty

Jake Pretty has been with Emmons & Mitchell for 2 years. Jake has proven himself to be a very reliable member at Emmons & Mitchell and has worked on a variety of construction projects involving the City of Kingston, Health Care Services, and Military Services.
