Donny Emmons

Chief Estimator

Donny Emmons began his career at Emmons & Mitchell in 2014 after graduating from St. Lawrence College with a diploma in Civil Engineering Technology. Starting as a laborer and carpenter, he quickly advanced to project management within five years, demonstrating strong leadership and technical expertise.

Since 2018, Donny has served as the company’s Head Estimator, playing a key role in expanding E&M’s construction capabilities and project volume year after year. His strategic approach to estimating and project planning has contributed to the firm’s continued growth, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and competitive success in the industry.

Mark Emmons

President

Mark joined Emmons & Mitchell in 1984, spending 8 years in the field working on a variety of projects throughout the Kingston area before transitioning into leadership roles. In 2016, he was appointed President, bringing decades of experience and a deep understanding of the construction industry to the company.

A dedicated advocate for safety and industry standards, Mark has served as Chairman of the Labour Management Health & Safety Committee in Kingston and on the Board of Directors for the Construction Safety Association of Ontario. He was also President of the Kingston Construction Association in 2009. With over 34 years of expertise, Mark continues to be a driving force behind E&M’s success, ensuring quality, safety, and innovation in every project.

Luke Emmons

Project Manager

Luke joined Emmons & Mitchell Construction in 2010, starting as a carpenter before advancing to site superintendent and eventually project manager. His hands-on experience and leadership skills have been instrumental in successfully overseeing a diverse range of projects.

Luke continues to expand his expertise by managing renovations and new construction for clients such as Queen’s University, Defence Construction Canada, the Limestone District School Board, the Canadian Hearing Society, and various municipal projects throughout Kingston and the surrounding areas. His commitment to quality and efficiency ensures the successful execution of every project he undertakes

Bob Vinkle

Project Manager

Bob Vinkle has been a dedicated member of Emmons & Mitchell since 1973, joining the company straight out of high school. Over the years, he has built an impressive career—starting as a carpenter, advancing to an estimator, becoming a principal in the company, and now serving as our most Senior Project Manager. With decades of hands-on experience and leadership, Bob continues to play a vital role in the success of Emmons & Mitchell projects.

His extensive portfolio includes a wide range of high-profile builds and renovations, such as the Plumbers Union Hall in Kingston, multiple renovation projects at Queen’s University, the RCMP R15 and R16 heritage restoration and renovation, MH36 interior renovations and envelope upgrades, and the Dan Keyes Collision Center. With an unparalleled depth of experience and commitment to excellence, Bob remains an integral part of the Emmons & Mitchell team.

Matt Waitson

Project Manager

Matt joined Emmons & Mitchell in 2016, bringing specialized expertise in heritage carpentry, millwork, and a Red Seal Carpentry Certificate. His skills make him an asset for detailed and historically significant projects, ensuring precision and quality in every build.

As a lead project manager, Matt is dedicated to building and preserving the Kingston community and its surrounding areas. He has overseen numerous projects that enhance local infrastructure. His expertise in historical restoration has also contributed to the preservation of Kingston’s architectural heritage through masonry reconstructions for the City of Kingston.

His commitment to high-quality construction ensures that every project he leads positively impacts the community, blending functionality, preservation, and innovation.

John Adams

Project Manager

John joined Emmons & Mitchell in 2025, bringing experience in Project Management with a Consulting Engineering background. John has developed project management skills and technical knowledge on a variety of construction projects including new construction, structural restoration, building envelope repairs and heritage works.

His expertise includes resource management, project planning, construction processes, and quality assurance. John has managed residential, commercial and industrial projects from new buildings to extensive restoration projects.

As a member of the Canadian Associate of Heritage Professionals (CAHP) and as a Professional Engineer, John approaches his project with a an understanding of the first principles required to construct and maintain buildings with the future in mind.

His passion and commitment to the construction industry helps the team deliver on projects and build lasting relationships.

Kyle McMahon

Project Coordinator

Kyle has been a valued member of Emmons & Mitchell since 2017, bringing a wealth of experience in construction and a strong foundation in Civil Engineering Technology. His expertise spans project planning, site management, and quality control, ensuring that each build meets the highest standards of craftsmanship and efficiency. With a deep understanding of construction processes and industry best practices, Kyle plays a critical role in overseeing projects from inception to completion. Kyle serves as Co-Chair of the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC). His leadership in workplace safety helps maintain compliance with regulations and fosters a culture of safety on-site. Over the years, he has contributed to several high-profile projects, including major developments at Queen’s University—such as Duncan McArthur Hall, Stauffer Library, and Botterell Hall—as well as multiple projects for the Limestone District School Board (LDSB) and the Algonquin & Lakeshore Catholic District School Board (ALSCB). Kyle’s dedication to excellence and his hands-on approach make him an integral part of the Emmons & Mitchell team.

Kate Antoine

Project Coordinator

Kate has been in the construction industry since 2007, gaining extensive experience both on-site and in the office. She joined Emmons & Mitchell in 2025 as a Project Coordinator, where she plays a key role in ensuring seamless communication between clients, contractors, and project teams. With a strong focus on relationship building, she fosters collaboration between all stakeholders, ensuring that projects run efficiently and effectively. Her ability to coordinate multiple moving parts while maintaining clear and open communication helps keep projects on track, within budget, and aligned with client expectations.

Versatile in many areas of the industry, Kate has worked on a diverse range of residential and commercial projects, adapting to the unique needs such as heritage and LEED certified projects. With her broad knowledge, she is able to anticipate challenges and develop proactive solutions with her team. 

Jen Bardy

Project Coordinator

Jen joined our team in March 2023 and quickly became an essential part of our operations. She provides invaluable support to staff, trades, and clients by assisting with the use of our project management software, ensuring smooth communication and efficient project tracking. Her attention to detail and proactive approach make her a reliable resource for everyone involved in the project process.

 

With a strong background in data entry and technical assistance, Jen specializes in streamlining workflows and troubleshooting any issues that arise within our systems. Her expertise allows the team to stay organized and focused, ensuring that all project details are accurately recorded and easily accessible. Jen’s dedication to improving our processes plays a key role in delivering high-quality results for our clients.

Debbie Mack

Payroll & Head Reception

Debbie Mack has been a dedicated member of the E&M team since 2006. With a strong work ethic and a keen attention to detail, she plays a vital role in managing key administrative and financial tasks. Her responsibilities include payroll, accounts payable, reception and communication, sub-contracting agreements, fleet vehicle management, and project closeout documentation.

In addition to her administrative expertise, Debbie collaborates closely with our estimators to prepare proposals and quotations for tender closings. Her ability to multitask and efficiently manage complex processes ensures the smooth operation of daily business activities, making her an invaluable asset to the team.

Kim Keller

Kim joined Emmons & Mitchell 2017, bringing decades of experience in payroll and accounting. She earned her Business Administration and Finance Diploma from St. Lawrence College and has worked with well-known companies such as Bosal Canada Inc. and Empire Life. Her extensive background in financial administration has equipped her with a deep understanding of payroll processing, accounting procedures, and compliance standards.

With a strong ability to plan and manage workloads effectively, Kim excels at organizing tasks, prioritizing responsibilities, and meeting critical deadlines. Her attention to detail and commitment to efficiency make her a valuable asset to the E&M team, ensuring smooth financial operations and accurate payroll management.

Brent Mitchell

SITE SUPERVISOR

Brent has been an integral part of Emmons & Mitchell since 1997, bringing decades of experience both in the office and in the field. As a Senior Site Superintendent, he plays a key role in overseeing a wide range of projects, from military facilities to office and academic renovations. His hands-on approach and deep industry knowledge make him a trusted leader on-site, ensuring projects are completed efficiently, on time, and to the highest standards.

A skilled problem solver, Brent is an asset to any project, tackling challenges with practical solutions and a keen attention to detail. Some of his recent projects include various renovations and upgrades at CFB Kingston, as well as roofing and mechanical upgrades at Gananoque Secondary School. His experience, leadership, and dedication to quality construction make him a vital part of the Emmons & Mitchell team.

Sheldon Vankoughnett

Site supervisor

Sheldon has been a valued member of Emmons & Mitchell since 2003, bringing extensive expertise as a fully licensed carpenter and Senior Site Superintendent. With a strong focus on scheduling and efficiency, he excels in managing large-scale projects and coordinating with sizable teams to ensure smooth execution. His ability to oversee complex projects while maintaining clear communication and organization makes him a key leader on-site.

Sheldon has successfully led a variety of major projects, including the construction of a hangar in Trenton, significant renovations at Loyalist College, Memorial Centre Pool construction, and restoration work at Queen’s University’s John Deutsch Centre and Ellis Hall Lab. His polite and approachable demeanor fosters positive relationships with clients and trades alike, making him a respected and effective presence on every project.

Andy Guthro

SITE SUPERVISOR

Since joining Emmons & Mitchell in 2001, Andy has brought over two decades of hands-on experience to the construction industry. As a Senior Site Superintendent, he values a positive and proactive approach to keep projects moving efficiently and effectively. His strong leadership, organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities ensure seamless coordination among teams, resulting in high-quality project execution.

Andy has led a wide range of projects, from large-scale institutional builds to intricate custom renovations. His portfolio includes the new Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board (ALCDSB) facility in Belleville, major renovations at Loyalist College, high-end custom homes, a new daycare facility in Picton, the Bayridge Bible Chapel, Rolade Realty & Residential Complex upgrades, and the Cataraqui Dental Clinic. With a commitment to excellence and a track record of successful projects, Andy is an invaluable member of the Emmons & Mitchell team.

David Andersen

Site SuperVISOR

Since joining Emmons & Mitchell in 2013, Dave has been a key contributor to the success of numerous construction projects. As a Senior Site Superintendent, he brings a proactive and solutions-oriented approach to every job, ensuring projects stay on schedule and within budget. His strong leadership, attention to detail, and ability to coordinate large teams make him an essential part of the Emmons & Mitchell team.

Dave has managed a diverse range of projects, from large-scale institutional builds to complex renovations. Matt Dowling

Site SuperVISOR

Since joining Emmons & Mitchell in 2016, Matt has continued to grow within the company, taking on larger and more complex projects while remaining equally skilled in managing smaller renovations. No matter the project’s scale, he is dedicated to delivering high-quality results and ensuring client satisfaction. His adaptability, attention to detail, and commitment to excellence make him a valuable leader on any job site.

Matt has successfully completed a variety of projects, including renovations at Dupont and the construction of the new Plumbers Union Hall and Training Facility in Kingston. Currently, he is focused on overseeing a large-scale storage facility and office building. His ability to manage diverse projects with efficiency and precision makes him an integral part of the Emmons & Mitchell team.

Adrian Droogh

Site Supervisor

With decades of experience as a carpenter in the Kingston area, Adrian has developed a broad skill set across various sectors of the construction industry. Since joining Emmons & Mitchell in 2020, he has taken on a supervisory role, overseeing a range of healthcare, academic, and heritage restoration projects. His attention to detail and expertise in working with historically significant buildings make him a valuable asset to every project he undertakes.

Adrian’s portfolio includes the Hotel Dieu Hospital Sydenham Wing Interior Restoration, KFPL Bishop House Exterior Restoration, and the Queen’s University Ban Righ Hall & McLaughlin Hall Window Replacement. His ability to manage complex restorations and renovations while maintaining the integrity of the original structures highlights his dedication to quality craftsmanship and project success.

David Gardner

Site Supervisor

Dave has been a valued member of Emmons & Mitchell since 2013, bringing his expertise as a Red Seal Carpenter to a wide range of projects. His strong technical skills and attention to detail make him especially effective in managing complex builds with intricate design elements. Serving as both a Site Superintendent and Carpenter, Dave plays a crucial role in ensuring quality craftsmanship and efficient project execution.

Dave’s experience includes overseeing academic renovations at Loyalist College and various facility improvements for the Limestone District School Board (LDSB) and the Algonquin & Lakeshore Catholic District School Board (ALCSB). His dedication to precision and excellence makes him a key contributor to E&M’s success in delivering high-quality projects across the community.

Ryan Blakley

Site Supervisor

Ryan joined Emmons & Mitchell in 2022, bringing over 15 years of carpentry experience and a strong background in project management. Before joining E&M, he successfully managed more than 100 residential projects, honing his skills in construction planning, execution, and quality control. His expertise allows him to handle projects of varying complexity with efficiency and attention to detail.

Since joining the team, Ryan has overseen significant projects, including renovations at Nicholson College and work at Trenton Air Base. His ability to manage timelines, coordinate teams, and ensure high-quality outcomes makes him a valuable asset to E&M, contributing to the company’s reputation for excellence in construction.

Paul Fischkohl

Paul has been a dedicated member of Emmons & Mitchell since 2007, playing a key role in both construction operations and workplace safety. As a certified member and Co-Chair of the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC), he is actively involved in maintaining and improving E&M’s health and safety program. His commitment ensures that job sites operate with the highest safety standards, protecting workers and optimizing project efficiency.

In addition to his health and safety responsibilities, Paul is a versatile team member who transitions between roles as needed to support various projects. His experience includes work on VB01, the Military Communications and Electronics Museum, Empire Life, the Memorial Pool and Water Park, and the Trenton Hangar renovation. Whether leading safety initiatives or assisting on-site, Paul’s adaptability and dedication make him a valuable asset to the E&M team.

Andrew Morrin

Site Supervisor

Originally from New Zealand (Not Australia), Andrew started in the commercial construction sector working on mid sized apartment builds. Not too long into his apprenticeship, he switched to residential housing, wanting to focus on building high quality homes. For 15 years he built many outstanding houses including some winning regional and national building awards. 

Moving to Canada in 2015 for what was a 2 year holiday, he met his now wife and decided to switch back to commercial construction.

Andrew has been living in the Kingston region now for 5 years and has worked on and supervised projects including community centres and multi storey apartment buildings.  

Marco Machado

Site Supervisor

Marco joined Emmons & Mitchell in the summer of 2017 as a fully licensed carpenter and has since grown into a site supervisory role. While continuing to apply his hands-on carpentry expertise, he now oversees projects with a focus on efficiency, quality, and on-site coordination.

 

Marco has managed projects for the Limestone District School Board (LDSB), Defence Construction Canada (DCC), and various private clients. His strong work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to meeting project deadlines make him a valuable asset to the E&M team, ensuring every job is completed on schedule and to the highest standards.

Dylan Kusters

Site SuperVISOR

Dylan is a fully licensed carpenter who has been a valued member of Emmons & Mitchell since 2020. With many years of experience in the trade, he has built a strong reputation for quality craftsmanship and leadership. In addition to his hands-on carpentry work, he also takes on supervisory roles, ensuring projects run smoothly and efficiently.

Dylan has contributed to a variety of projects for clients such as the Limestone District School Board (LDSB), Kingston Health Sciences Centre (KHSC), DuPont, and Invista to name a few. Dylan  applies his expertise to ensure high standards of construction and project execution. His dedication to precision and efficiency makes him a valued member of E&M.
