HEAD OFFICE TEAM Murray MitchellPresident
Murray joined E & M in 1974 as a junior estimator after four years working in the field on various projects. Murray became a principle in the company in 1982. In 1995, Murray was presented with a Project Management Gold Seal Certificate by the Canadian Construction Association. From 1989 to 1993 Murray was a Director on the O.G.C.A. Board.
Mark D. EmmonsVice President
Mark joined E & M in 1984 and worked in the field for four years on a myriad of projects in and around the Kingston area. Mark became a principle in the Company in 1991. Mark was the past Chairman of the Labour Management Health & Safety Committee in Kingston and served on the Board of Directors of the Construction Safety Association of Ontario. Mark was also the past President of the Kingston Construction Association (2009).
Robert J. VinkleChief Estimator
Robert (Bob) Vinkle joined the firm directly from high school in 1973 and worked at E & M while obtaining his Journeyman’s licence in carpentry at Algonquin College (1977). In 1978 Bob moved to the position of Estimator, and became a principle in the company in 1982. In 1995 Bob received a Gold Seal Certificate in estimating by the O.G.C.A. As E & M’s Chief Estimator, Bob is directly involved with all proposals and budgetary work.
Deborah BullockOffice Manager
Deborah (Deb) Bullock joined the firm directly from high school in 1972 as receptionist and payroll clerk. She rapidly became the ‘backbone’ of Emmons and Mitchell Construction Limited. Deb oversees all aspects of Company accounting, as well as cost and inventory control of all construction projects. Deb’s attention to detail is unprecedented. She approaches every job with an unrelenting focus on accuracy.
Debbie MackOffice Assistant
Debbie Mack joined E & M in 2006. Debbie’s outstanding work ethic allows her to handle many important tasks including payroll, accounts payable, reception and communication, sub-contracting agreements, fleet vehicle management, and close out documentation for all projects. Debbie also works with our estimators to prepare proposals and quotations for tender closings.
Brent MitchellJunior Estimator
Brent joined E&M directly from High School in 1997 working in the field on a number of projects. He moved into the office in 2008 and has been working in the estimating department using his experience of working in the field for 11 years. This experience has given him a solid understanding of the importance of estimating a job with accuracy.
Donny EmmonsProject Manager/Estimator
Donny worked in the field on his summer breaks from high school and college gaining field experience. He recently graduated from St. Lawrence College from the Civil Engineering program and is now working in the office in estimating and project management.
FIELD STAFF David CarrSite Superintendent
David (Dave) Carr is a very respected site superintendent who has been part of the E & M construction team for 19 years. Dave has led a significant number of E & M projects to successful completion including a plant expansion for Goodyear (Napanee), renovations at Victoria Hall (Queen’s University) and Empire Life, Queen’s McNeill House Redevelopement, and building of the Wind Turbine Building at St. Lawrence College.
Tom MacFarlaneSite Superintendent
Tom MacFarlane has been with E & M since 1994, joining as a carpenter’s apprentice and building his skills to becoming both a knowledgable carpenter, and a very dedicated superintendent. Tom is a site expert in project renovations, including the Children’s Outpatient Clinic at Hotel Dieu Hospital, the Faculity of Medicine (Queen’s University), James Reid Furniture, and Bayridge Animal Hospital.
Mike SzczesniakSite Superintendent
Mike Szczesniak joined E & M in 2004. Mike is a fully licensed carpenter and has quickly established himself as a superintendent at E & M through his close supervision of project renovations. Mike’s many accomplishments include Queen’s University (Carruthers Hall, Louise D’Acton Lab Renovations, Macintosh Corry Hall Labs), the Kingston General Hospital (Connell Wing Roof replacement), and St. Mary’s of the Lake Hospital (medication room).
David AndersenSite Superintendent
Dave has worked with E&M for the past 1 Yz years and is a fully licensed carpenter. Dave has worked in the industry for over 25 years and has acted as a site supervisor for E&M on projects like HOH Neuroscience Renovations, Queen’s University renovation projects and Lancaster Drive and Truedell Public School.
Sheldon VankoughnettSite Superintendent
Sheldon has worked with E&M since 2003. He is a fully licensed carpenter and is also a very experienced site superintendent. Sheldon has been in charge of several of E&M’s projects throughout the years. Some of his projects include Bank of Montreal Belleville, Frontenac Secondary School Addition & Renovations, Bayridge Secondary School Addition. He was also a lead carpenter and site coordinator at Memorial Park Pool, Kingston.
Ron PetersSite Project Manager
Ron has recently joined E&M as a Site Project Manager working on the new expansion to the Military Museum at CFB Kingston. This project was a design build project. Ron has worked in the industry for over 35 years running his own structural steel business where he was also a chief estimator and a head draftsman. Ron brings a wealth of knowledge and is a great fit for the E&M team.
Luke has been working with E&M during his summers since he has been 15 years old and continues to do so, gaining experience in the field and looking after small projects. This experience will assist him in his future position as a site superintendent or a project manager.
